ФМЖД
The Fédération Mondiale du Jeu de Dames (FMJD), also known as the World Draughts Federation, was founded in 1947 by France, The Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. Nowadays, the FMJD has grown to a total of over sixty participating national associations.
In the starting years, its main objective was organizing the individual World Championships. However, more and more competitions have been added, of which Youth World Championships and Team Olympiads are clear examples. Additionaly, the FMJD founded continental associations, to organize (qualifying) tournaments in Asia, Africa, America and Europe.
In 2005, the FMJD joined forces with the global bridge, chess and go federations by establishing the IMSA (International Mind Sports Association), having as ultimate goal Olympic recognition. The first World Mind Sports Games will be an instrument to show the world the excitement of mind sports.
